Student Minister Application
Thank you for your interest in applying to become a Student Minister for the 2019-2020 academic year. Please read the following directions carefully.
All applications are due by midnight on April 15, 2019.
The student leadership of the Presbyterian Student Center is elected annually at a meeting of the student organization. The Presbyterian Student Center is an official UGA student organization and abides by the guidelines set forth by the Center for Student Organizations (CSO) at UGA and the constitution of the Presbyterian Student Center.
Please note that, according to the constitution, “Candidates for office shall stand for office, but not campaign for office. The Executive Committee alone will represent the candidates and inform the membership of their qualifications. If members of the Executive Committee are standing for office, they will recuse themselves of any representation of candidates or any deliberations regarding said representation.”
There are four (4) officers of our student organization:
These are not necessarily associated with particular positions. Please indicate in your application if you feel called to stand for any officer positions.
There are eight leadership positions that may be filled for the 2019-20 academic year. The descriptions are as follows:
Connection: Responsibilities include introducing new people to our ministry, including an emphasis on freshmen.
Hospitality: Responsibilities include making our building and property hospitable to everyone who enters our space (e.g. Tues. snacks, greeters, etc).
Ecumenical & Interfaith Relations: Responsibilities include facilitating interfaith and ecumenical activities and events and interactions with a diversity of people and groups.
Worship: Responsibilities include planning and leading regular worship, coordinating special worship events.
Community: Responsibilities include coordinating community groups, organizing Sunday dinners, building community at the Presbyterian Student Center, and serving as secretary of the student organization.
Good Neighbor: Responsibilities include researching, promoting and planning mission, service, and advocacy opportunities for the ministry.
Graduate Ministry: Responsible for coordinating GradMin events.
Storyteller: Responsibilities include outreach, maintenance of social media presence, weekly newsletters, etc)
